Meghan Parnell and Dave Barnes are the driving force behind Bywater Call, a powerhouse 7-piece Southern soul roots rock band out of Toronto, Canada. Since Bywater Call was formed in 2017, they have been Maple Blues and Independent Blues Award-nominated and have made waves in the Canadian Festival Circuit. The band has also had the opportunity to extensively tour Europe, including most recently in May and June of 2022, featuring a mainstage appearance at the Netherlands' premiere blues festival MOULIN BLUES. Performances there have been praised in Dutch and German media, with references to Meghan as one of the best singers in blues and roots today. They will be returning to Europe in Fall 2023. Born out of a love for southern soul, blues, and roots music and a passion for creating a powerful and moving experience for listeners, Bywater Call is completed by Bruce McCarthy on drums, Mike Meusel on bass, John Kervin on keys, Stephen Dyte on trumpet, and Julian Nalli on tenor sax.

The Kennedys release their first CD of all newly minted original songs in five years! Songwriting duo Pete and Maura Kennedy make a strong return to the studio and stage after three years of weekly live-streamed lockdown-era concerts. They took the opportunity to explore classic songwriting in-depth, performing over a thousand songs during the pandemic. That vast overview strengthened and refined their own writing and laid the foundation for this new collection of original, socially-conscious songs. In addition to singing and writing, Pete and Maura are multi-instrumentalists. The 13 songs are cast in a soundscape that draws from the classic canon of American roots, in keeping with the theme of getting back "home" as a nation. Acoustic and electric guitars, a vintage steel guitar, a gospel-inflected piano/organ mix, and even a slide ukulele all add colors to a songbag of sounds that have drawn us together during hard times. Pete and Maura believe that those sounds still have the power to pull us through again.

The current lineup for The Nighthawks is: Mark Wenner: Vocals, Harmonica Mark Stutso: Drums, Vocals Paul Pisciotta: Bass Dan Hovey: Guitar, Vocals

Dead to the Core is a collective of singer-songwriters and acoustic musicians, led by musician/author Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers, that celebrates the music of the Grateful Dead—not through note-for-note re-creations but by playing the songs their own way, letting them grow and evolve collaboratively in the true spirit of the Dead. This show an all-star Syracuse-based band. Joining Rodgers (guitar, Strumstick) are Tim Burns of Two Hour Delay (guitar, mandolin), Wendy Sassafras Ramsay (flute, clarinet, accordion), Josh Dekaney (percussion kit), and John Dancks (upright bass). Interspersed with the music are clips from Rodgers' own interviews with Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir, in which they reflect on the roots and evolution of the music. A Dead to the Core show is an experience unlike any other Grateful Dead tribute: a night of deeply personal performances that illuminate the masterful song craft of one of America's most original bands. Grateful Dead music right down to the core.

"Tony Trischka is known as the father of modern bluegrass" – New York Times Tony was born in Syracuse in 1949, and raised in a home filled with music. There were Broadway scores and a sweeping range of classical music, from Stravinsky to Beethoven. (The first thing Trischka learned to play on the banjo, in fact, was the Ninth Symphony.) The wide-open American vistas of Aaron Copland had an especially potent spiritual and visceral impact on him, as did the folk music his left-leaning father held dear. The Almanac Singers, the solo work of its founding members Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, and Lead Belly's children's LP were in constant rotation.

One of our favorite humans, the inimitable Ed Hamell, aka Hamell on Trial, returns for his annual two-day run Thanksgiving weekend. Hamell on Trial is the musical alias of New York-based folk punk hero Ed Hamell. A one-man explosion, he is loud-as-war one minute, stepping off the microphone to whisper to an enthralled audience the next. This is a dynamic performance informed by politics, passion, intelligence and the all-important sense of humor. His caustic wit and devil-may-care attitude has long been a favorite of anti-establishment icons Aesop Rock, Kimya Dawson, Ani DiFranco and the critical elite inciting Rolling Stone magazine to call him "Bald, bold, and superbad!" Henry Rollins says "Hamell is a one man rock show!" He has been described as "Bill Hicks, Hunter S. Thompson, and Joe Strummer all rolled into one" by Philadelphia Weekly and a "one man Tarantino flick: loud, vicious, luridly hilarious, gleefully and deeply offensive" by the Village Voice.
